3st PART
SIGNIFICANT
SNOW FALLING
Sometimes there is a lot of snow and under
several centimeters. In winter 1985/1986 had recorded 7 cm
of snow to Rennes in just 2 hours. Accumulated snow depth
reached 26 cm. In Normandy the snowpack lasted more than three
weeks with 70 cm of fresh snow and high snow drifts of 8 meters
as in 1978/1979.

winter 1978/1979 has undergone heavy snowfall in Normandy

In December 1970, 6,000 vehicles were stranded
by snow between Lyon and Valence on the A7
In England, during the winter of 1962/1963
of the significant snowfall for a period of 70 days did high
snow drifts more than 1 meter. What is impressive. It's like
in Canada when you see the picture below.

In January 1963, after 70 days of snow drifts in England

On 05/18/1935 it was still snowing in England
The snow is a huge embarrassment for a country
like France when it falls in abundance, in an unusual way.
The events of early 1970, 1997 and many others have shown
us. The heavy snowfall which considerably disrupted road traffic,
railways and aircraft. But it rarely happens and it is nothing
compared to the U.S. and Canada who have blizzards
and cold winters.
